Patio Doors and Bay Windows, Windermere

When we were asked to provide prices to three seperate customers with properties located within the same property block, initially, we thought it would be straight forward, double glazed windows and doors. Here's where it gets a lot more interesting...

As Cliff arrived to Bellsfield Court, Windermere, he was greeted by the infamous Lake Windermere and a range of ground, first and second floor properties. The location wasn't the problem, mind. The existing large bay windows had certainly seen better days, but replacement posed a few telling questions for us. Standard double glazing units have maximum manufacturing sizes. The enormous bay windows that offer owners a view of the great lake require units that mean we have to use a higher specification glass - which increases weight, astranomically. This meant we had to use specialist glazing equipment and a crane to elevate the unit to installation height.

Once we had the old frames stripped out and the new PVC frames installed, we were able to hoist the glass up to the appropriate height, with the use of the crane, where two installation teams were on hand to slowly guide and position the unit into the ready and waiting frames.
